About This Site
Top Golf Back Pain Relief publishes hands-on reviews, comparisons and how-to guides for recreational golfers who deal with a stiff or sore lower back. We cover the gear that helps you get through a round and the morning after: lumbar braces, massage guns, back stretchers, TENS units and push carts that keep you from hauling a bag around. Nothing here is medical advice, and nothing here replaces a visit to your own doctor or physical therapist.

Back Safety
The articles on this site describe one golfer's experience and are not medical advice. Back pain has many causes, and some of them need a professional. See a doctor before using any product here if your pain is sharp, shoots down a leg, comes with numbness, tingling or weakness, follows a fall or injury, or comes with fever, unexplained weight loss, or any change in bladder or bowel control.
TENS units are not for everyone. Do not use one if you have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or other implanted electronic device, if you are pregnant, or if you have epilepsy or a heart condition, unless your doctor has cleared it. Never place pads on the front or sides of the neck, across the chest, over broken or irritated skin, or while driving or sleeping. Massage guns should not be used over the spine itself, bones, joints, recent injuries, bruises or varicose veins, and should be kept off the neck. Stop if anything causes sharp pain.
Back stretchers and braces can feel intense at first. Start with short sessions, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and stop if a stretch causes pain rather than mild tension. A brace is support, not a fix, and wearing one all day can let the muscles it supports get lazy. Heat and cold should never be applied directly to bare skin for long periods. On the course, warm up before you swing, stay hydrated in the heat, and let a push cart do the carrying when your back is having a bad day.
